This monster is the original installment of my “Creepy but Cute” series, as well as my first creation using Super Sculpey clay. Check instagram for a video of the time consuming painting process and other work in progress shots.

Curious about what a “Shoggoth” is? While I first knew them from Dungeons and Dragons, they originated in H.P. Lovecraft’s astral horror stories. Enjoy an excerpt that first introduced them to our world,
”It was a terrible, indescribable thing vaster than any subway train—a shapeless congeries of protoplasmic bubbles, faintly self-luminous, and with myriads of temporary eyes forming and un-forming as pustules of greenish light all over the tunnel-filling front that bore down upon us, crushing the frantic penguins and slithering over the glistening floor that it and its kind had swept so evilly free of all litter.”

— H. P. Lovecraft, At the Mountains of Madness
